TTIT Ferry — Terms & Conditions
1. Definitions
- Agreement means these terms and conditions.
- Order means the order placed online by the Purchaser using the online ticket purchasing application.
- TTIT means Trinidad and Tobago Inter-island Transportation Company Limited.
- Purchaser means the person purchasing the Ticket from TTIT.
- Purchase Price means the total purchase price and Value Added Tax (VAT) payable by the Purchaser for the ticket.
2. Sale and Purchase of Tickets
TTIT agrees to sell and the Purchaser agrees to buy the ticket on the terms and conditions set out in this Agreement.
Purchases are binding on the Purchaser, in the case of purchases of tickets where the purchase transaction is successful and/or the ticket is printed.
3. Payment
The Purchaser will pay the Purchase Price to TTIT in consideration of the purchase of the tickets.
TTIT shall be under no obligation to deliver the ticket, and the Purchaser is not entitled to collect the ticket until the Purchase Price has been received by TTIT in cleared funds either via the stated payment methods.
4. Ticket Eligibility and Purchase Requirements
4.1 Infant Tickets
An infant ticket is free, but a ticket must be requested for an infant when purchasing the adult ticket.
4.2 Child Tickets
A child ticket cannot be purchased unless the child is traveling with an adult. Children under the age of 18 years will not be allowed on the vessels unless accompanied by an adult.
4.3 Vehicle Tickets
A vehicle ticket cannot be purchased alone. It must include a passenger's name on the ticket. Hence the cost for the passenger must be added to the vehicle ticket. A vehicle ticket can only be sold to an adult with a driver's permit.
Note: Trucks over 3,636 kg are not permitted on passenger ferries.
4.4 Senior Citizens
Senior citizens travel ticket will be issued upon presentation of either a valid Trinidad & Tobago national identification card or Trinidad and Tobago issued Passport.
Note: A senior citizen is any person who has attained the age of 60 years and over. Senior citizen tickets will only apply to nationals of Trinidad and Tobago.
5. Delivery and Ticket Formats
5.1 Ticket Delivery Methods
Tickets purchased online through the TTIT Ferry website or mobile app will be delivered to the customer via:
- •Email with downloadable PDF attachment
- •Mobile App with digital ticket stored in-app
- •SMS with link to digital ticket (where applicable)
5.2 Valid Ticket Formats
The following ticket formats are accepted for check-in and boarding:
Digital Tickets (Preferred Method):
- •Electronic tickets displayed via the TTIT Ferry mobile app or website
- •E-boarding passes generated through self check-in (mobile app or website)
- •Digital tickets accessed via mobile web browser
Printed Tickets:
- •PDF tickets printed on paper
- •Boarding passes printed from email or website
5.3 Self Check-In
Passengers may complete self check-in through the following channels:
TTIT Ferry Website:
- •Access your booking via the website
- •Complete online self check-in
- •Receive e-boarding pass via email or download from website
- •Print boarding pass or save digitally to mobile device
TTIT Ferry Mobile App:
- •Access your booking within the app
- •Complete self check-in directly in-app
- •Receive e-boarding pass stored in the app
- •Display boarding pass directly from your mobile device
E-Boarding Pass Usage:
E-boarding passes obtained through website or mobile app self check-in can be:
- •Displayed directly from the mobile app or mobile web browser at security checkpoints and boarding gates
- •Scanned at automated check-in kiosks
- •Presented to ferry terminal staff for manual verification if required
5.4 Ticket Validity Requirements
To be valid for check-in and boarding, all tickets (digital or printed) must:
- •Display a valid barcode or QR code
- •Show the passenger name(s) matching government-issued photo identification
- •Indicate the correct sailing date, time, and route
- •Be legible and scannable (for printed tickets, ensure high-quality printing)
Note: Passengers using digital tickets are responsible for ensuring their mobile devices have sufficient battery charge to display tickets throughout the check-in and boarding process. Printed backup tickets are recommended but not required.
6. Refunds and Revalidation
6.1 Refund Policy
A Ferry Ticket can be refunded only if it was not revalidated (changed), and it has not expired. Any request for refund will attract a 25% penalty fee of the total cost of the ticket.
For Online Tickets:
- •Unused online tickets are valid for one (1) year from date of purchase.
- •No refund will be given on expired online ferry tickets.
Refund Process:
- •All Request for Refund will be conducted at the Port of Spain or Scarborough Ferry Terminals.
- •Refund Application forms (available at Ferry Terminals or in the FAQs section) must be completed by the ticket holder and hand delivered to the Ferry Terminal together with required documents (Ferry ticket, copies of identification and letter of authorization) for processing.

6.2 Revalidation Policy
For Tickets Purchased at Terminals or Authorized Agents:
Revalidations or changes to the 'date of travel' on unused ferry tickets can only be done once at any location (terminals or remote ticket agents).
For Online Tickets:
Online tickets cannot be revalidated.
7. Cancellation of Tickets
Without limiting any other right of TTIT, it may cancel any ticket purchased as stated hereunder:
- Tickets may not, without the prior written consent of TTIT be resold or offered for resale at a premium (including via on-line auction sites) or used for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes (including competitions and trade promotions) or to enhance the demand for other goods or services, either by the original purchaser or any subsequent bearer.
- If a ticket is sold or used in breach of this condition, the ticket may be cancelled without a refund and the bearer of the ticket may be refused entry.
8. Important Guidelines
- 1Travel tickets are non-transferable.
- 2All vehicle tickets must include a passenger.
- 3For drivers – a valid driver's permit & original certificate of insurance for registered/unregistered vehicles must be presented prior to boarding the vessel.
- 4For foot passengers – a valid photo identification (passport/ national I.D. card / driver's permit) must be presented prior to boarding the vessel.
- 5For international travellers – a valid passport must be presented.
- 6A senior citizen must show a valid Passport or National Identification card issued by the Government of Trinidad & Tobago prior to boarding the vessel.
- 7A child ticket cannot be purchased unless the child will be travelling with an adult over the age of eighteen (18) years. A child will not be allowed onto the vessel unless accompanied by an adult over the age of eighteen (18) years.
- 8Vehicles must be removed from the vessel immediately upon arrival at the destination port.
- 9All vehicles must arrive at the terminal two (2) hours before sailing.
- 10Vehicles that are loaded onto the vessel will not be taken off prior to the sailing of the vessel.
- 11All foot passengers must check in two (2) hours before sailing.
- 12Check-in will be closed off forty-five (45) minutes prior to the sailing to ensure that the vessel departs on time.
- 13Passengers will not be allowed to disembark the vessel after boarding.
- 14Flammable items such as liquid petroleum tanks, cooking gas tanks and oxygen tanks will not be allowed on board the vessel.
- 15The use of radios or tapes is prohibited on the vessel.
- 16Sailing schedules are subject to change without prior notice.
- 17Vessels assigned to the ferry service are interchangeable without notice at the authority's discretion.
9. Liability and Indemnity
The conditions of carriage and the liability of the Port Authority of Trinidad & Tobago for loss and damage sustained to the property, goods and vehicles of any passenger are subject to the provisions of the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act Chapter 50:02 of the Laws of Trinidad & Tobago.
The Purchaser indemnifies TTIT, its employees, agents, contractors and sub-contractors against all costs, claims, liabilities, damages or losses of any nature whatsoever incurred by any such person as a result of a failure by the Purchaser to comply with the terms and conditions set out in this Agreement.
